You're in a new town and have an important dinner to make happen.
Is the first thing you do to begin calling restaurants and asking them if they have a table free?
Probably not before you've decided what kind of food you'd like to eat.
Long before your trip you might have asked on Facebook.
For great restaurants.
Not restaurants that have tables available.
You would check online. You would do some research. You might go check it out in person if the vibe matters for this dinner. You would talk to people.
But what if you're hungry and you just need to eat something?
That is not the kind of eating we are talking about here. There is eating to survive and there is eating to be satisfied.
Where I'm going with this is this. We end up in the restaurants we want eating the food we want because we took the time to figure out what we want.
And we do a lot of research before making a decision.
We don't as often make the same effort with our career.
And when you think about it - a poorly chosen restaurant has far less impact on our life than a poorly chosen job.
Perhaps it's time to start doing a lot more research on your next move before it's time for a move.
You will probably find yourself in the job you want at the place you want.
Your table is ready.
